I’m currently taking Jamieson Prostease Saw Palmetto complex which says to take 1 capsule daily and has:

Saw Palmetto Berry……….200mg
(Serenoa repens 20 mg of 1:10 extract)

Pygeum bark ………….. 7500mg
(Pygeum africanum 37.5 mg of 1:200 standardized to 13% beta sitosterol)

So is this amount of Saw Palmetto effective – as I’ve read online in a few sites that anything less than 320mg is useless. But is this 320mg the berry part itself or talking about the 20mg of 1:10 extract. If it’s the latter would it mean I’d actually have to take 16 capsules daily to actually get this 320mg of the extract?

Any better solutions for reducing hairloss and encouraging regrowth?

I’m not sure about hair loss but Saw palmetto needs to be taken on a gradual level starting out lower then slowly increasing the dose to a daily max of 3000 mg depending on your needs.

You might also want to try pumpkin seed oil and searching online for "hair loss forums" and asking this question there, they are often the most help. Normally its better to research herbs and supplements and work out a formula of individual herbs to take and what doses over all in ones..they rarely are strong enough to do much of anything and are usually a rip off.

Best of luck to you !

i used saw palmetto but i’ve stopped. I’ve done research onthis and started to read abouthte japanese and how beofre inthe early 1900 hundreds there were very few if any bald japanese men. Now is now the case. There are a lot of balding japanese and the cause. Fat.
The japanese in the last fifty years have started using butter fat which creatues more sebum which is the oil from your head. But what happens is that if you don’t wash your hair every day this sebum oil can lock in dht and send it back into your skin and roots and this will make your hair fall out. When I don’t wash my hair every day it gets really oily and i notice my hairs starets to fall out. So the solutionb for this is wash your hair everday. Limit the fat in your diet. Don’t kill it all the way since you need some fat. Also massage your scalp. There are many theories on why men go bald and one is that men have poor circuation in the out layer of hteir heads. Women have way better because estrogen keeps their viends an capilaies very flexible. but guys have poor circulation so what happens is that dht gets stuck in the hair follicles and becauseof ppor cirulation it does leave. So if you increas you cirulation to your head then you can remove the dht and it will not kill your hair. Also take B vitamins and eat some raw vegeaboles like cabbage, romiane lettuce, and broccoli. These vegetables have slilica which helps with hair. I have ntoice my hair has become really thiunk doign this. I even stand on my head from time to time to increase the circulation to it.
there is also a new product out there that is suppose to grow hair i just saw an info mercial for it. odn’t know the name.
