ok,Thank you. Ii just made some last night and wanted to make sure I can leave it in my hair. I used Shea butter, coconut oil, avocado oil, tea tree oil, and evoo. Does that sound like a pretty good mix.

Yep! Please let me know how it turns out. You know, too, I don’t know the name of this ingredient, but I think you may need something that will allow the oil and water to mix. I have read about this product that combines things that don’t normally mix, but the names eludes me.

Thanks, I’ll try and see what happens!
I asked because I wondered whether the water and oils would separate, I noticed that 99% of cosmetics have water but wondered whether it’s all those weird chemicals xD that stop any separation there might occur and keep the texture nice
    keep fingers crossed for me!

I don’t know if you could add water. I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to because most commercial creams have water as an ingredient. Right? I would use a small amount of shea butter with water and an oil to see what happens. (The mix I made is this vid, I would use on relaxed hair or 3A/B hair, but I wouldn’t use a lot. I think with shea butter it is important to remember that a little goes a long way. I hope this helped!

    hey there!
I would like to make my own hair mix too, but my hair type isnt afro and I think the one you made would be a little too heavy for my hair
would you have any advice? Could I use water? I’d like something with more of a serum or light cream texture
    Thanks for your help!

It didn’t harden, but it was fluffy and light feeling. I know that is a bad way to describe it, but those are the only words that come to mind. What I use now, has a thicker consistency which I like. I rub it on my hands and it melts. It feels great on my hair.

  • vickiet06 says:

    Does your mixture …
Does your mixture stay with that same creamy consistency, or does it eventually harden overtime, because I’ve tried a whipped shea butter mix, and it went back to the same sort of hard consistency it had before I mixed it?

  • LadyBlackReign says:

    If your mixtures …
If your mixtures ever come out too oily/greasy then you can always add a tablespoon or two of arrowroot powder or cornstarch. It’ll cut down on on the oiliness but won’t take away from the natural properties of the rest of the ingredients.

Wow. That is a good observation and you are right. It really isn’t a creme. I will have to add an annotation to my vid. Thanks!

it seems like what you made was a whipped butter not a cream. creams tend to have milks and or water in them..while a butter is oiled based..by whipping it, it will have a creamy texture..but it would not be a “cream”

Some time afer making this video, I realized the thick mixture was great! I really like it – almost more than the fluffy one. I think the cocoa butter chunk that I used made it thick

  • NappyNFree says:

I try to keep my …
I try to keep my routine fairly simple. I oil my scalp almost every night and I use the shea butter on my hair. Aloe vera gel and glycerine are two great products for the hair, so I decided to use them in my mixture. I’m not an expert, but I would suggest washing your hair regularly, using quality hair care products, avoiding braids or styles that stress that part of your hair. Also try not to stress about the hair loss because your body (hair) will react to the stress you are feeling.

Thanks for replying. I see that you use aloe vera gel and glycerine, do you have to put them both in it or its just your preference? My hairline and the nape of my head keeps falling out especial the nape and i dont know why can you suggest something anythin, lol because i see that your hair is growing beautifully and mine is just dry and badly damage. i’m originally from the caribbean and i move to missouri two years now.

  • NappyNFree says:

Right now, I have only used vatika oil in my shea butter mixtures. Too much oil will make it greasy. (I put three different ones in the “too oily” batch that I showed you in the video.) It doesn’t have to be fluffy – I do measure, but it ‘s an estimate, but you do want more shea butter than oil. My second shea butter vid shows a creme that is thick and not fluffy, but I like it…more than the fluffy mixture.

  • kimoni6 says:

Did you use all the …
Did you use all the oils you listed in the mix and how do you know if you are adding the right amount of oil in the mix to get it fluffy? if it doesn’t not come out fluffy what should you do with the mixture? My daughter hair is very dry and brittle and i need something to help it grow soft at the same time
